Given the amount of our neighbors interested and invested in the redevelopment occurring at Bashford Church, the North Street Neighborhood Association is hosting a meeting dedicated to the topic at Monday, Sept 21st at 6 PM at Hawthorne Library.
The meeting will review the currently-submitted plans, talk about how the city’s process and criteria used to determine approval, and gather feedback to send to our alder, the city’s development committee, and the site developer.
For background, during summer storms in July 2025 the Bashford Church roof sustained significant damages, resulting in standing water inside. Given the age of the building, there is a significant amount of asbestos remediation that would be necessary to deal with. Revive Community Development is a 501c3 that works with faith-based organizations to reimagine their site use, and is taking lead on this project.
