10/6 Update: Third seminar scheduled! Doors at 5:30, discussion at 6 Wednesday, October 28th @ 917 E Mifflin Street (Breese Stevens Field), the Forward Club – Logistics. Tristan Straub and the team at Big Top Entertainment host a wide variety of events, so they’re the perfect one to lead a talk on all the little details that need to come together to make an event happen.

Both the sponsorships and volunteer discussions will be led by Noah Salata and his team at the Goodman Community Center.

In organizing the Eken Park Festival, we would often find ourselves asking, “I wonder how other organizations handle this?”

Thanks to the Madison Neighborhoods Grant process, the North Street Neighborhood Association is establishing a Festival Educational Series to create two ways to answer those questions.

  1. Create a space for the people that passionately donate their time and energy to put on our wonderful neighborhood festivals to meet, connect, and trade ideas.
  2. Hear from professionals and subject-matter experts about how they approach these tasks and field questions and discussion.

Currently, the topics for each meeting are: vendor coordination (including food and drink), day-of volunteering, musical lineup and booking, fundraising, and general logistics like permitting and renting equipment. The meeting dates and times will be scheduled in September, October, and November of this year, after Madison’s festival season winds down.
